Replacement rear plate screw for the .30 M1 Carbine. Carbon steel screw securing the recoil plate to the stock escutcheon.
The rear plate screw is the primary fastener that secures the receiver assembly of the .30 M1 Carbine to the wooden stock. It passes through the recoil plate, continues through the stock and threads into the stock escutcheon (nut), which is permanently installed in the underside of the stock. Together these components form the main clamping system that holds the action securely in place.
Manufactured from carbon steel and produced to original military dimensions, this replacement screw is suitable for maintenance, repair and restoration of US M1 Carbines. Accurate thread dimensions ensure proper engagement with the original stock escutcheon while maintaining the correct clamping force between the receiver, recoil plate and stock.
During installation, the recoil plate should seat fully against the receiver before the screw is tightened. The stock escutcheon threads should be inspected for wear or damage, as excessive play may prevent the action from seating correctly. The screw should be tightened evenly with a properly fitting gunsmith's screwdriver to avoid damaging the slot or overloading the threads.
Suitable for US .30 M1 Carbines built to original military specifications.
