The ejector plunger is housed inside the bolt of the .30 M1 Carbine and works in conjunction with the ejector spring to maintain constant forward pressure on the ejector. This pressure is essential for controlled ejection, allowing the fired cartridge case to be expelled consistently once it clears the chamber.

Manufactured to the original dimensions, the plunger is designed to move freely within its bore while providing stable support for the ejector throughout the operating cycle. Replacing the ejector plunger requires complete disassembly of the bolt using the appropriate M1 Carbine bolt tool, as the ejector spring is under considerable tension. During servicing, it is advisable to inspect the ejector, ejector spring and plunger channel for fouling, corrosion or signs of wear. Any damage or debris inside the bore may restrict movement and affect reliable ejection.
