The cleaning rod of the G43 and K43 is placed on the front of the rifle underneath the barrel, you will see that the barrel band has a recess, and there you can push the cleaning rod into a small hole in the wooden gunstock. 

The cleaning rod is turned clockwise and screwed into the nut that is located in a recess of the gunstock.
